Gopaldhara (RTE-01) Darjeeling Spring Baozhong – Rare First Flush 2024 – Master Series

This is a completely new & unique Darjeeling Baozhong oolong tea that you can find only at Gopaldhara Tea Estate in India. This rare Darjeeling ウーロン茶 tea has a pure character, in that the B157 leaves undergo very little processing after being harvested. After the newly sprouted leaves have been plucked, they are withered in the sun for a few hours to reduce moisture. Once suitable suppleness is achieved in the leaves, a delicate sideways rolling action is performed by hands. The leaves are minimally oxidized and maintain a vibrant green color. Beyond this, the leaves are only slightly curled after the oxidation stage, and then dried. So, one can easily relate this to Baozhong Teas.

The result of this minimal processing method is that the original, fresh green leaf character is preserved. It has an especially aromatic profile, with a fresh green character, yet with just enough oxidation to give it balance and substance. It is easily distinguished from its Green Tea cousins, but also stands clearly apart from High Mountain Tea and other traditionally made Oolongs.

This Darjeeling Baozhong oolong tea has dark green dry leaves with few tips. When brewed, it produces a lovely yellow cup that offers a delicately light-bodied, clean, and refined yellow liquor. The flavour profile is characterized by the essence of the high mountains, delivering a satisfying and abundant taste. The texture is notably vanilla and herbaceous, while simultaneously offering prominent fruity and wild flowery notes, with hints of olive and apricot.
